I did some research, and came to the conclusion that you can't assign the control knobs to any of the native parameters in GB(it doesn't allow MIDI Mapping). Your only option if your daughter really wants to control EQ and other things with the Oxygen's contol knobs, is to use third-party plugins with MIDI assignable parameters.
No experience, old mac running Mountain lion.
But Avid has an article on it: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/troubleshooting/Mac-OS-10-9-support-for-Media-Composer-Pro-Tools-Sibelius?popup=true&NewLang=en&DocType=1078&q=maverick
So not supported, but if it will work? Make a back up and find out :)
Can anyone tell from the specs whether
audio software will have to adapt
significantly and be updated?
Not because of the hardware. Although I don't know about Pro Tools which breaks at times when it shouldn't. There's likely an operating system upgrade to bring in the new device drivers and firmware, but they shouldn't cause problems to top-level ...
How long are your 26 lectures? Would it be unreasonable to simply re-record your mixes to a new file and create your mp3 from that? Don't know how much time you're wasting while waiting for each audiosuite to render, but by re-recording after editing/mixing you'd:
Sit through it all once, listening to and proofing the resulting file as it goes down. Use ...
Audio files are essentialy arrays (or vectors) of numeric values. If the audio files are uncompressed, the short audio file should exactly match a sequence of values within the long audio file. That means you could use tools like Matlab, Octave, Python (with modules) etc. to read in the audio as an array-like data type and then use provided functions to ...
The keyword for your request is Digital Signal Processing (DSP). That is the science and technology that deals with digitized signals (including audio).
There are several freely available resources on the web to learn some basic or advanced techniques. Nevertheless, some concepts require a solid mathematic background.
Examples (among others) :
Partitioning of SSD's is not particularly relevant as there is no particular difference in head seek time - there are no 'read/write' heads in an SSD. Partitioning was useful with magnetic platters as different portions of the spindle had different seek and performance times depending on the linear velocity of the head over the platter. Don't worry about ...
Performancewise it doesn't really matter if you create several partitions or stick with one:
However the amount of data traffic in general matters, and with two discs you can split up the traffic, e.g. like so:
Disk 1 (1 TB): One or two partitions: one for the system and one for ...
I have successfully used the original Firepod (one before FP10) on El capitan. Do not use the Presonus drivers. They are not necessary. Just plug and play. Presonus drivers will likely cause a problem. The hardware however is working fine, with no drop outs or issues. My computer is a 2008 Mac pro 8 core system. This may be more of a new Mac hardware ...
I retired my FirePod for years because Presonus discontinued this product and stopped updating driver to support new versions of OSX.
I gave up when I upgraded OSX to v10.8 Mountain Lion. Presonus states clearly in this page that FirePod/FP10 doesn't support OSX10.8.
The difficulty with the problem presented is that "spectral content" is not just a number you can compare to find degrees of proximity. You need to have complex analysis algorithms, comparing multiple parameters depending on the intended application, and define proximity criteria, normally based on statistical methods. This is true even for relatively "...
Plus 1 for soundflower. Another option is to try to create an aggregate device Audio Midi Setup. And try unmuting, assigning, turning up everything you can in the Saffire MixControl. I notice you have Monitor outputs 3,4,5, and 6 turned off (red). Sometimes 3/4 is what is considered the main output by other applications linked to MixControl for some ...
My M-Audio Mobile Pre-USB is not recognized my Yosemite; I can get it to work by unplugging the usb cable and re-plugging it in but it's gone after the next restart.
Cant find any updated drivers (yet). Strange behavior and inconvenient but it is a work around.
I have updated my MacBook Pro to Mavericks, freshly installed Pro Tools 10.3.7 and 11.0.2, with the following issues on built-in audio:
- Cannot create new sessions
- Runs flawlessly on old sessions when you open them.
- Cannot create new sessions
- Crashes immediately after initial loading when attempting to do anything (e.g. changing ...
