Just get a basic Behringer USB preamp interface that supports Phantom power. Then there's a direct connection from the microphone through the preamp into the computer. Job done. Impedance isn't a problem for you. Just get the interface, plug it in and then manage the preamp gain on the interface.

That depends on how you provide a signal to the Out port: Out 1-16 is just the output assignment. You set the volume on the channel that feeds the output. This can be the mains, but also any of the buses, an Aux bus or a matrix.

OK that sound is mains frequency induction into the microphone or the cable. It can be eliminated by ensuring you have a correctly balanced cable between your interface and microphone. If, once checking you have correct cabling, you are still hearing this noise, then you possibly have a power supply or interface issue.

After you get a usb interface you can route your mac to output the channels from your usb interface outputs and then just connect them to your mixer.

these are interchangeable capsules. Try switching the capsules around and attempt to further isolate the fault to the body or the capsule. Ok, so I got my mistake.
It is possible to use the setup to do live sound as well as record. The missing part was setting up the routing in the card out menu. That is where we choose what the sound card will be using, and sending via USB/Firewire to the computer. I set it to the AES50 ports A1 to A32.
