I was wondering if anyone can help me, does anyone know what type of speakers tend to project outwards for a good distance??

Any help would be great, thankyou.

  • Sort of difficult to answer. What application are talking about? Speaker announcement at a fotboll field? Or music at Woodstock? – ghellquist Apr 22 '20 at 15:51

All speakers project outwards. Sound waves move out and away from their source point. Low frequencies, like bass from a sub woofer, travel far and through solid objects much more then the higher frequencies. Elephants use extremely low frequencies to communicate over distances of miles. – Alaska Man Apr 22 '20 at 19:03

Jessica - can you clarify the question a little more so that the answer we give can be a bit more focussed? As @AlaskaMan has said, all speakers project outwards. Some speakers project directionally more than others and this is often frequency dependent. Higher-frequency drivers are better at being 'directional' than lower frequency units. Then, there are devices such as LRAD, V-MADS which are directional on a whole other level. Please clarify what it is you need to understand. – Mark Apr 23 '20 at 3:52
